From the Pastor’s Study

We never know when the Holy Spirit will enter our lives. When God’s Spirit does it will always be for our good because God loves us often “in spite of” not “because of” how we seek to follow Jesus Christ. We have good reason to “expect the unexpected” from our often surprising Creator.

God is in more than just his “Holy Temple.” And God expects us to do more than just “keep silence before Him.” God expects us to act on His guidance as well as to receive it.

God is everywhere especially where there is a person whose spirit is open to listening and communicating with His Living Spirit.

For the Prophets, it often took hundreds of years. They often did not see the fulfillment of what they were told to tell God’s people.

For Paul, Christ’s second coming did not happen as he expected in his lifetime. For us, the Presence of Christ often comes when we set aside immediate cares and concerns and fully open our selves to the Divine in and beyond ourselves.

Jesus made it clear that “God is Spirit and they who worship Him, must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)

When we take the time and focus with all our heart, mind, soul and strength, we often receive God’s assurance in unexpected ways. God’s Presence is close and
real. It can come to us in the words of a song, or an insight so clear you know it came from far beyond your conscious mind.

In October and through the year, let us expect God’s Presence to come to us bringing inner peace and joy. So shall we become a blessing to others.
